September 30, 2013

Good old Dingras... So here's how the week went.
Tuesday: So Tuesday was transfer day. We sent Elder Del Rosario all the way off to Santa Ana, Cagayan. It's the furthest area in the mission. Haha! It'll be an adventure for him. Then we met Elder Ramsay's new companion, Elder Antule. He's a good guy, he's pretty fun. Then we headed off to work. We were about to teach our first investigator, then a salesman from a company called "Talking English" came and did a presentation on a product to help kids learn english. So we got punted. Then we picked up our fellowshipper. He's a really awesome guy, but he's really struggling financially and has to use crutches because one of his legs is unusable. But it was amazing to see the sacrifice people make for the Gospel and to see that despite extremely difficult circumstances, we can be happy. The rest of our appointments, we pretty much got punted. Including our back-up plans! So that was kind of rough.
Wednesday: We went to Solidares, which is a pretty cool area, it's just kind of far. All of our appointments were gone there, so we did some finding and tried to plant some seeds, (which we weren't entirely unsuccessful). Then we went back to Madamba and got punted all over the place. Haha, and a bunch of kids thought I had money because I'm white so they started trying to search my pockets and we had to run away.
Thursday: We had district meeting and it was really cool. Elder Antule is the new district leader so he led it. Anyway, we taught our recent convert about temple marriage and eternal families, and now we're starting to teach his family. Man, he's such an awesome guy and we love his family. We're just hoping they can come to know the truth for themselves as well!
Friday: We taught a less-active family, and they're really nice, but they're so depressed. We had a good lesson, I just wish they would come to church and be happy. But we're trying.
Saturday: We went to Marcos and Solidares again and taught one of the families we met. It was a really good lesson and the Spirit was pretty strong. Then we went back to that recent convert and his family and talked about the Restoration. They're so awesome and they're reading the Book of Mormon now!
Sunday: Church was awesome, we actually had a lot of people come. The attendance is usually from 30-40 or so, but I think we had about 60-70? Anyway, it was nice having a nearly full chapel.
Anyway, sorry this email is long, I'll try to be shorter next week! I just have one more thought. I was studying humility and read Alma 26:12 I think? It talks about how everything we do and accomplish only happens because of God and Jesus Christ. We really are nothing without Him, and it's important to remember how much He does for us. But it's cool because even though there are an unfathomable amount of us, God still knows each of us individually, and by name. It's so cool and I love that.
Anyway, have a great week! Mahal ko kayo!
